How the estimate works
Let r be width divided by height and d be the diagonal. Height equals d ÷ √(r² + 1), and width equals height × r. The calculator then multiplies inches by 2.54 for centimetres.
For example, a 120-inch 16:9 screen is about 104.6 inches wide and 58.8 inches high. The same diagonal at 2.39:1 is wider and shorter, so changing the aspect ratio changes the wall area even when the advertised diagonal stays the same.

Screen-size questions
Does the result include the screen frame?
No. It estimates the visible image area. Add the manufacturer's listed frame or bezel dimensions before checking wall clearance.
Why does aspect ratio change the width?
The diagonal stays fixed while the rectangle's shape changes. A wider ratio produces more width and less height for the same diagonal.
Can this choose a projector or seating distance?
No. Use the dimensions as one room-planning input, then verify projector throw, lens placement, sight lines, and model-specific guidance separately.
