Polishd Nail Bar
119 N Reino Rd, Newbury Park, CA 91320, United States
DO NOT GO HERE. WORST SERVICE. My girlfriend got her nails done, they charged $60. Within a few days they started falling off. She called several times and they never returned her calls. Finally, she spoke to someone and they said there was nothing they could do. She spoke with the owner, who was nice over the phone and told her to come right in and they would take care of her. My girlfriend, thinking they were going to fix THEIR mistake, was charged an additional $30 after being there for 2 1/2 hours. 12 hours later, you guess it. He nails broke off AGAIN. The girl who did a horrible job BOTH times was Stacy and the owner Georgina assured her she would be taken care of and she wasnt. She was taken advantage of. Now she has spent $90 in a week, hat to waste 5 hours and he nails look horrible. Avoid this over priced place and RUN. Go elsewhere, you will thank me later! If I could give no stars I would.

Local Roofs
2550 Azurite Cir, Newbury Park, CA 91320, United States
Update: 3.12.24 Roof is complete. My one complaint is communication seems to break down between sales and the Roofing staff so the client has to keep following up on things already stipulated. They are aware and working to fix that.Original review: LocalRoofs was a referral from my real estate broker. I spoke with 3 companies about reroofing my home and LocalRoofs was the best, by far, in terms of services they offer and length of warranty for labor. My rep., Jay Enriquez, Roofing Specialist, spent all the time with me I needed to answer my questions about this major expense, gave me a thorough expanation of what they provided and left me with informative material I could look over. I neeeded a no-interest finance plan and they had that option. Jays proposal arrived promptly and explained all the known charges as well as potential costs for things that are not visible under the shingles so I have a complete understanding of what this could cost - no surprises. I am impressed by the high quality of the products they will be installing. Mitch Hale, the General Install Mgr., stopped by to look at the leaking area. I think that was an extra courtesy and I appreciated him taking time to do that. Jay and Mitch have been a personal and professional pleasure to work with and I expect the same from their other employees who will be a party to this 2-day process. This company is local to me, has 90 installers - all employees - and they are bonded, licensed and insured. Given the prevalance of liability issues these days, I think this is the right company to hire if you have roofing issues. And I did.
Joels Plumbing & Installations
1200 Lawrence Dr Unit 365, Newbury Park, CA 91320, United States
Second edit. Due to the rebuttalsIts unfortunate that I have to update this review yet again, but I feel the need to address the companys reply to my review. Their response is an effort to still engage in defamation and personal attacks against me from a platform where they feel untouchable. You see, following my review of my legitimate customer experience, Joels Plumbing then chose to defame my business with false online reviews, making statements about my character and attacking me personally. My business manager spoke to them and politely asked them to remove the review, given its defamatory nature and that they had not legitimately engaged my services. They refused to do so, and my business manager was instead met with hostility and combativeness. It was not until a final written notice of consideration of legal action that they chose to remove the review. That is where we find ourselves. An agent of this business has taken it upon themselves to continue their personal and passive aggressive attacks (a vile man like him, Ill pray for him as I strongly dislike him, etc.), over a professional issue. To make things worse, theyve now brought my newborn daughter into it, which I dont take kindly to no matter the manner, as she is not theirs to discuss in a public forum. (However, I, as her father, can state that I asked how quickly we could resolve the ongoing service issue, as the inability to do laundry was preventing me from preparing for her imminent arrival, which was discussed privately.) I find these personal attacks and the inclusion of my child frustrating and counter to a company that markets itself as family-owned and operated. My original review, which can be found below was nothing but straight forward, and spoke only to my professional engagement with this business. I cannot say the same for their response or now removed defamatory review of my business.First time they were here. Two young boys showed up. Walked around the house for a little. Claimed they would come back with a video camera to inspect the pipes. That was 3 months ago.THEN they did do a snake in the garage. But, Left all the mess. They didnt not even bother sweeping or wiping anything. The didnt lay anything on the washer for their equipment. So the washer and dryer are scratched up pretty bad. Then when I called to get it rescheduled and handled properly they sent me elsewhere. As a business owner im used to provided a certain level of customer service. Even if the customer is tough or the job is hard I use those times as a chance to show people what i can do.Under promise and over deliver!EDITEDNow the young lady who does the texting seems upset and taking what is a professional review, where i have not written anything to Attack personally….now im receiving personalComments texted to me. With the way things have been going im Not surprised. Its unfortunate to say that Seems theres a genuine coaching opportunity here for joels plumbing.
Van Nuys Awning Co
2580 Azurite Cir, Newbury Park, CA 91320, United States
Working with Van Nuys Awning was a rare and superb experience.Today is it near impossible to find anyone to do anything “out of the box”.I had a challenge at my beach house to cover and open-top elevator cab.I have used Van Nuys Awning for years and they have always done a great job with anything they have done for me…commercially or in a residence. This little project was out of the ordinary for all of us.They so exceeded my expectations in every single way. While that is the way client service and work should go, it rarely happens nowadays...They conceived of the best solution and I am a VERY finicky designer and this was for my own home. They engineered how to best build the product. The materials and details were/are flawless. Almost like something excellent from another time …like a bonnet on an exquisite vintage automobile.I did not care about the timing because I wanted it done right and it was… worth every penny and then some. They were punctual, friendly, and smart, polite …all a rare find in this world. The quality is superb!I dont normally take time to write a review about peoples work however, in this case, I literally could not help myself! I appreciate how they handled everything!Few companies around like Van Nuys Awning in this world today. I think they have been in business for more than 100 years! That also says a lot !*****Five Gold Stars !
California Tire Co
1180 Newbury Rd, Newbury Park, CA 91320, United States
Tried here based on a review from someone I know. Inquired about a wait-for alignment and they suggested I be there at opening. Arrived to find the rack was already occupied but not a problem for me to wait. Filled out the paperwork, including advising them I had set the tire pressure (cold) to my desired specification. After the alignment was done I was told (and receipt showed) both outer CV joint boots were bad. This had happened within the last 720 miles since I did the brakes but isnt unusual. The problem is you often have to remove a suspension piece, which any competent mechanic knows, at least on one side with this car, so it would likely need another alignment after I replaced the boots. The nice thing would have been to tell the customer (in the waiting room) BEFORE doing the alignment, giving them an option to have it fixed and not pay twice for an alignment. The alignment appeared correct driving home but the ride was worse. I waited until the tires were cold and checked the pressure, and they had pumped up the back tires to label spec despite my advance statement they were set. My German wagon isnt driven (here) at 130 mph, nor normally fully loaded, and wears tires evenly at the pressures I use.So 2 stars for doing an alignment, stars off for not listening to the customer (who knows their way around cars and would do it them-self if they owned an alignment rack) and advising of problems afterward.
Prancing Puppy Pet Grooming
2233 Michael Dr, Newbury Park, CA 91320, United States
Weve been coming here regularly since I got my dog 2 1/2 years ago. Have been here twice since new management and I will continue to, as they do an excellent job. Today was $160 (not including tip, paid in cash) for a trim and de-shed for a 90 lb great pyrenees. When the Prancing Puppy first shut down, I was in a tight spot because many other places didnt take large dogs or they quoted me upwards of $400. (My dog suffered some unfortunate looking home haircuts in the interrim.) Very glad they reopened. They do an excellent job at a great price. He looks tidy, smells clean, and is so happy!
Big Brand Tire & Service
1304 Newbury Rd Suite B, Newbury Park, CA 91320, United States
Really irritated-what was supposed to be a specific local support purchase ended up being a significant waste of personal time, and thus money. To be clear, the staff there at this location was very professional and helpful, the issue centered around the disconnect with the Big Brand corporate call center, where I called to make my appointment.I work in NoHo, and can throw a rock at 2 different major tire stores, (Americas Tire/Mountainview Tire), as well as a whole host of smaller independent tire shops. The Smart money would have been to just keep it simple and take my 2 vehicles worth of tire needs to one of these at lunch. Instead, I choose to support local and go out of my way and leave work early AFTER calling the Big Brand appointment line and confirming that all of my tire needs were scheduled at 4pm, and would take 45 minutes. Upon showing up, I was informed that they had been overbooked, and would do what they could to accommodate. The staff there were very polite, and tried to make the best of a bad situation to get through all the customers, so I recognize its not their fault. When all was said and done, I walked out of there just North of 6:15pmWhat I am not stoked about is that leaving work early cost me money, and my time spent there was tripled. While I always want to try and buy local to where I live and support our local economy, an experience like this makes it hard to justify Rolling the dice again. Whats the point of making an appointment when it made ZERO difference, especially when theres the additional time waste of looking up their number and making the call and scheduling it all beforehand?!To top it off, 4 of the new tires we bought went on rims that were brought in without tires, but we still paid 4 tire disposal fees. At that point, it was past closing time, and after the 2+ hours I spent, (Wasted) there, I was over it, time is money and I just wanted to get on with the rest of my now limited evening.Sooooo, in conclusion;#1 I wasted time making an appointment#2 The appointment time was severely overbooked#3 My 45 minute completion time was TRIPLED#4 I overpaid for a service that wasnt even provided#5 I now have to spend even more time providing a reviewWhy is it that in a small, privately held company, my issues werent followed up? Its been several months-more than plenty of time. I want to support and buy locally at Big Brand, but frankly, it would be foolish to do it all over again at this point. I understand that things Happen, I get it, but this whole experience reeked of amateur hour, and the bottom line was that it cost me more in money out of my pocket, as well as valuable personal time. As of right now, my motivation to take a chance again on them or recommend them is pretty low, and thats NOT what Id like it to be. There are half a dozen tire shops in a 10 mile radius from our residence, certainly plenty of other choices...UPDATE- BB corporate reached out after this review, and made the effort to help make things right. Worked things out, though its not clear if their scheduling service dept has been improved. Nonetheless, will still be going there to do business, the core group of guys there are still solid.
Newbury Park Veterinary Clinic
1536 Newbury Rd Suite A, Newbury Park, CA 91320, United States
I took my cat here on a recommendation from my holistic vet for a tooth extraction. Dr Glaser was very nice and worked out a good dental plan for a general anesthetic ultra sound teeth cleaning and extraction if found to be needed.Unfortunately he was taken away for a preliminary blood test and over the next few days stopped eating and drinking and seemed to have a sore throat. He was also very lethargic. I took him to my own vet and noticed his neck seemed swollen but my vet could see nothing down his mouth or throat and he had a urine sample for infection which was negative. He cried out when she looked down his throat. Eventually 2 shaved patches appeared on his neck when the swelling went down and I called Newbury Park to ask about them. I found out they had taken the blood from his neck and shaved him there. They did not tell me this and I did not know. His neck was swollen and bruised as far as I know and he could not eat or drink. I wrote a letter about this and they called and said someone should have told me but also that the technician who took his blood said it was standard but a little difficult with the vein in his neck. I think that said it all as his neck was obviously swollen and probably bruised from the experience and he could not eat or drink . He got dehydrated too and he had to have a drip. He is not a cat who complains and in all the 8 years I have had him he has never lost his appetite .His neck was so swollen the bald patches were not visible until the swelling subsided when they dropped down and became very visible. No wonder he was so miserable and lethargic . Not a good experience.
