Comment: I had an excellent experience at La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Center in April 2024 when I had an explant surgery performed by Dr. Luke Swistun. To say that this surgeon saved my life isn’t much of an exaggeration. I had been sick for over a decade and finally realized it might be my breast implants making me sick. I had imaging done to confirm my suspicions and then did a deep dive online to find a qualified surgeon. When I saw that Dr. Swistun had been a combat medic AND an art major in college, I knew I’d found the right guy for the job. I knew he was trained in the en bloc removal and figured if he could remain calm under pressure in the military and had an artistic eye, my results would likely be phenomenal… and I’m happy to report, that’s exactly how they are. I highly recommend Dr. Swistun without reservation, especially if you have a ruptured breast implant or are experiencing symptoms of breast implant illness. Lastly, a shout out to the entire care team! Everyone I interacted with was caring, kind, supportive and professional. I’m forever grateful to La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Center for giving me a second chance at health.

His nurses and patient care coordinator are all so incredibly kind and easy to communicate with. As a sufferer of breast implant illness I was very anxious about having my implants removed and getting a lift, but he reassured me that I was in good hands- and I could not have asked for a better experience. Comment: I went to the clinic for skin resurfacing. I chose it, because of friends recommendations, as well as made on past experience. During my initial consultation, I was told to expect a few days of discomfort following the procedure. What actually happened, Wass a nightmare that lasted several days. I was unable to sleep, Talk, touch my face, or make facial expressions.I reach to the clinic (to my doctor). The response was quite dismissive. I was told this is normal. If you days later, I noticed that my upper lip was not moving. Pacifically, the right side of the upper legs remained lifeless when I was talking, Smiling.Again, I reached out to my doctor. Again, I was told it’s normal to pass with time.During my follow up appointment, several weeks later, I drew my doctors attention to the fact that one side area in my face did not respond, or did not respond as well) to the treatment, meaning if looked quite similar to how it looked before the treatment. Again, this concern was dismissed as.I may be a hiker concerned individual. Still, I turn to my doctor I think I would like to think that any doctor treating me is committed to the success of my treatment and to my sense of well-being. And I am.

Comment: I felt compelled to share my results from injector khan to warn others of potential results. I received lip filler from khan in nov 2022. I have only received lip filler twice, both times done at LJCSC. First time was wonderful with no concerns with someone who has since left the office.When I saw khan he injected both the bottom and top lip on the left side of my face with one poke on both bottom and top, moving the filler from the left side to my right side of my lips. My first injector made several pokes all over the lip to ensure the fluid was equally dispersed. When I left after seeing khan my lips were extremely swollen and remained that way for several weeks, unlike my first treatment with very little swelling. One year later, I have two tiny pin prick scars on both my bottom and top lip where khan injected. I believe the way he forced the filler into the other side of my lip by using one incision point caused the skin to be damaged, resulting in the scarring. Unfortunately, his injection style didn’t work for me. I hope this review helps you choose an injector you can trust.

I had to have a revision surgery that was performed by another surgeon (at my request). Even though Dr. Smoot is a nice guy, I sadly would not recommend him.Dr. Smoot and his nurse Shelly are wonderful. They make me feel so comfortable and always answer any questions I have. Dr. Smoot was honest with me about the realistic expectations after my procedure, which was much appreciated. I’m only one week post-op, but I love my results so far! I’ve have a bad experience before with another provider at the same clinic who actually ended up gaslighting me. I looked better before his treatment on me and he tried to convince me that my before photos were my after photos when I went for my follow up to fix the problems he created. Luckily, the assistant in the room with us also was appalled by this and immediately worked to make things right after by connecting me with Dr. Reidler. Dr. Reidler not only fixed the problems the first provider created but actually address the original reason I first came in for. She’s extremely empathetic and knows what she’s doing. She is meticulous in checking for symmetry. She never dismisses my concerns or makes me feel like I’m crazy. As an added bonuses, I had minimal bleeding and pain. She’s the best!

After I filled out an inquiry form and the recipe did several txt’s to welcome me and fill out survey forms a bit services I was interested in. I never heard back and finally called. Spoke to a lovely gentlemen who talked with me about all my interests and then”paired” me with one of their practitioners. I agree. Then I was transferred to someone else who essentially asked me a lot of the same questions. I felt very understood.Appointment day. There are two windows. Neither are managed and I’m not sure which one is for incoming or out going. I hang. Now I’m late for my appointment so interrupt the staff scurrying about behind the counter. I fill out the forms that reflect I CLEARLY am looking for more that a “general maintenance”. Twenty minutes after my appointment time they bring me back. I’m enthusiastic. The technician and an assistant comes in talked with me for literally less than two minutes about my immediate appointment needs. Co,es back after 10 does his thing (his name was Con) and he’s done. No additional conversation about what I’m concerned about, looking for.. nothing. My actual care time was less than 5 minutes. It’s a Botox/filler “shop”. No thank you! If you want someone to care about you and what you are trying to achieve Con at this practice is not your guy…. Maybe others there are better?

First of all, I would like to whole heartedly thank nurse Carmen, Dr. Hector Salazar-Reyes, and the rest of the incredibly wonderful staff for providing the higher than average service that they have rendered to me. I had a back fat removal procedure along with a facial liposuction to remove my double chin. Let me say outwardly that this esteemed facility with its impeccable reputation has exceeded beyond my expectations. They really do take excellent care of you while under their medical supervision. During the post op phase, they always make a check up call to see how you are doing with both your physical and emotional condition. And both during the operation and discharge phase they explain everything in detail and answer every question, you may have, to the letter. Comment: Anh=Outstanding!!! I was nervous going into the BBL procedure (broadband light). I wanted a procedure with little down time. Prior to going in I looked at many photos online to see other peoples results. I kept wondering if I would see similar results but went in cautiously optimistic. I paid for one session only (3 were suggested for optimal results). Its now 2 weeks after and YES I see results and have already signed up for treatment #2. My sunspots have lightened and my skin looks healthier/smoother. I am not trying to look young again (now in my 50s). Im just trying to regain a fresh look. And BBL definitely helps. I would suggest it for sure! My laser specialist (Ahn) was friendly, caring and diligent. She explained the procedure every step of the way and checked in with me a few times afterwards. As for the laser itself it is not painful. They applied a gel to numb your face which made the laser felt like a light prickle. The whole process took about an hour. Immediately after the procedure my face looked a bit worse and the sunspots got darker for about 2-3 days. After about day 4 my skin started improving and the sunspots began to fade away. Each day for the past 2 weeks my face has been improving and Im excited for my next round! Well worth the money!

It was fine. Everything went well.Aftercare is definitely where you get forgotten about as a patient. Questions I had were ignored or half answered. I was scheduled for 1 follow up appointment in which Dr. Saltz mentioned symmastia to me. I had no idea what it was until I went home and googled it. She also mentioned she would not be there for my 6 month follow up. Once I went home and took the appointment in - that was really odd. I emailed her nurse, Ruth, follow up questions about symmastia and her not being there for a 6 month follow up appointment. I got largely ignored. She said she would talk to Dr. Saltz and get back to me. She never did. I decided to wait a bit since I was still pretty fresh from surgery. I am now close to my 6 month mark and called to LJCS and talked to my patient coordinator about coming in to see Dr. Saltz regarding my results and some concerns I had. She informed me that Dr. Saltz IS RETIRING. And her last surgery day was the following week. She offered me to come in the next day. Unfortunately I could not make that happen and I was pretty upset (crying) that I had not been given the chance for a follow up nor informed she was retiring in my recovery window. I even had asked her nurse specifically about her mentioning not being around at my 6 month mark. She was not very sympathetic and said she could try and get me in but Dr. Saltz had very limited availability. I asked what would she be able to do for me. She said refer me elsewhere. I opted to not try and schedule given the lack of empathy, communication or care for me as a patient after my surgery.I am for the most part happy with my results. I do feel like I need a pocket revision but it is not worth going back to be treated as they have.This review is for a doctor who will no longer be at this practice but I do feel there maybe a bigger issue in communication at this practice and I want future consumers to be aware and to advocate for yourself and make yourself heard. I decided to not “rock the boat” and “trust the process” to have no final aftercare appointment and my concerns ignored.

To decrease chance of encapsulation, a pigs graph was applied. The result for this replacement was unexpected. I have one breast much larger than the left. The left breast shape is not congruent. I was told to give the healing process time but its been 8 or so weeks and do not see a change. Its disappointing. Comment: I did lots of Google research on different cosmetic surgeons near me. I also had a friend give me her personal experience from 10 years ago. From the time I went to my consultation to the procedure/follow up visits it was handled well. I was never pushed to have larger implants then I wanted.. afterwards I wish they were slightly larger but not too much. So I encourage you to try all the different sizes they have including ones larger then your mindset. The procedure and recovery itself was nice. I was not in major pain. The only struggle I personally had was not doing much as Im a busy body and I love working out. My new girls look and feel great. Would highly recommend Dr. Salazar to anyone.

Given all that, Julia walked me carefully through the options and listened to my focus areas. She took what I desired…looking just refreshed and brighter for my daughter’s upcoming wedding and a maintenance treatment plan going forward that was not too crazy to maintain…and made suggestions. Together we came up with a plan. She hit spots that maximized a real difference while still maintaining a natural look. She is a true artist, literally with shading and brush strokes to fill in certain areas. It was obvious she is very competent and loves her job. I cannot imagine doing any treatments like this with anyone less qualified. Taylor assisted in making the procedure as painless as possible. Prices are high due to the expertise for a board certified PS in Southern California and comparable to all others in the area.Dr. Luke Swistun is the top Doc at this Spa. He is an artist and has an incredible sense for detail and beauty. He is very attentive and goes all out being there for you every step of the way. He and the staff give you their personal phone numbers and are very sensitive to timely call back. This Spa also has its own surgery center so you dont have to go to multiple places. They also have their own OR staff so there is always consistency with the dynamics of the team. The best aspect of Dr. Luke Swistun is his understanding of Breast Implant Illness and he is fully equipped in performing the correct Capsulectomy En Bloc Procedure when removing implants. Comment: This is a very difficult review to write. I really liked Dr. Salazar and his approach in explaining all of the details in regards to my body and prior surgeries. I came in for a second consultation to review another surgeons work. I was expecting a formal written up overview of what was talked about and expressed in the consultation. I called his office to remind them to send in the write up and never got an email or response. Then later I hear from my original surgeon that he was aware that I went in for a second opinion with Dr. Salazar. I was very disappointed to hear that the doctor Hector Salazar violated my trust and broke the boundaries of patient confidentiality. Comment: If you are like me then you have probably been to several consultations, spoken to several doctors, each who promised you amazing results. I always left with a weird feeling in my gut. A feeling that kept me from getting a surgery i have wanted since i was 18 (i am 31 now) but when i met with Dr. Salazar he completely put me at ease. He didn’t promise me the results i came in picturing, instead he carefully and thoughtfully explained my anatomy and what we could do to get me to where i wanted to be. It wasn’t what i wanted to hear, but it was honest and i never once felt like he was trying to sell me. I called my husband crying, he said we would keep looking for another doctor, but i knew Dr. Salazar was the one! Because he wouldn’t compromise the integrity of the procedure or my final result to get a certain size. Other doctors would have just let me have a higher risk of encapsulation or bottoming out just to get me to commit to giving them my money. My surgery was a breeze, i had ZERO bruising and didn’t need any pain medicine after the first day. The follow up care has been incredible (Dr. Salazar literally called my husband the Saturday after my surgery while he was with his family to check on me and said if we needed to see him he would go to the office.
